Belgian Armed Forces Order DAF CF Military Trucks

DAF Trucks has received an order for the delivery and service of 879 CF Military all-wheel drive trucks from the Belgian Defence Forces. These trucks will replace the Volvo N10 and Mercedes-Benz Unimogs currently in service with the Belgian Land Component, with the first new trucks expected to be delivered in 2022 and the final vehicles leaving the production line in 2025.

Out of the 879 CF Military trucks ordered, 636 will be 2-axle 4×4 trucks, used for general cargo carriage. The other 243 trucks will be 4-axle 8×8 trucks, which will serve in a variety of specialized applications such as tipper trucks, container carriers or cranes. All trucks will use Tatra Trucks’ unique chassis, which ensures the CF Military’s “unequalled off road capabilities”. Tatra Defence Vehicle is also providing armored cabs for 352 of the trucks ordered. Other partners for the order include HIAB, the supplier for all hooklift systems and load handling cranes. VS-Mont will supply tipper bodies for the order, while Porgest will build the cargo bodies for the trucks.

The cabs for the trucks will be built at DAF Trucks’ facility in Westerlo, Belgium, while the 10.8 liter PACCAR MX-11 and 12.9 liter MX-13 engines that respectively power the 4×4 and 8×8 trucks are manufactured at DAF’s Eindhoven engine plant in the Netherlands. The aforementioned Tatra chassis will be built at Tatra’s plant in the Czech Republic.

“We are very proud to have been granted with this prestigious order from the Belgian Armed Forces”, commented DAF Trucks’ president Harry Wolters. “Because our ultra-modern cab and axle plant is located in Westerlo, we regard Belgium as our home market, which makes this order extra valuable to us. With the CF Military Models we will offer the Belgian Armed Forces a range of unique trucks with which they can perfectly perform their responsible task under all circumstances.”

DAF Trucks says that “full service” of the CF Military can be carried out at any of its professional dealers around the world, with 27 locations in Belgium and over 1,100 more worldwide. Global accessibility to required spare parts is facilitated by “industry leading parts availability” by PACCAR Parts.
