IAI Unveils Next-Generation Counter-UAS Swarm Solution at AUSA
During the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) 2025 meeting in Washington, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) unveiled a new generation multi-layered C-UAS swarm solution – an advanced counter-drone defense system designed to detect, identify, disrupt and intercept hostile unmanned aerial vehicles and drone swarms. IAI said the system was developed for the Israeli Defense Ministry to meet urgent battlefield needs, reflecting “operational insights and evolving needs shaped by the current war.” It has already been demonstrated multiple times to senior Israeli defense officials and has proved its advanced capabilities and operational readiness. The new system offers an AI-driven and multi-layered defense technology aimed at countering drone swarm threats with speed and precision.
The IAI C-UAS swarm system uses an autonomous C4I mission platform integrating AI and machine learning for real-time threat detection and response. The system intelligently recommends optimal interception tactics to operators and enables rapid neutralization of detected threats while keeping human commanders in the loop. It fuses data from electro-optical and radar sensors to create a detailed real-time aerial picture so the operators can then coordinate multiple interceptors against each target until the UAS is neutralized. The solution also includes electronic warfare modules: jamming and other soft-kill measures handle many drones at range, while kinetic interceptors engage more persistent low-altitude threats.
IAI notes that this C-UAS swarm technology builds on the company’s long legacy of anti-drone deployments worldwide. The firm has delivered hundreds of UAV detection and interception systems globally – in the United States, Europe and Asia – protecting critical infrastructure, mobile forces and strategic assets. The new multi-layer defense system has higher automation and a modular architecture that allows seamless integration of additional sensors and interceptor types.
IAI’s CEO has noted that the new solution greatly “enhances Israel’s ability to defend against a broad spectrum of aerial threats with precision, speed and adaptability.” Such multi-layer C-UAS systems will be key elements in maintaining airspace security and force protection as militaries around the world confront increasingly sophisticated drone swarm tactics.
