DSEI 2025: General Motors Launch New General Support Utility Platform

GM (General Motors) Defense, have formed Team LionStrike with BAE Systems and NP Aerospace to compete for the UK’s Light Mobility Vehicle Programme. GM Defense launched its new General Support Utility Platform (GSUP), based upon a Chevrolet S10 Work Truck, for the first time globally at DSEI 2025 in London.

The GSUP displayed at DSEI 2025 is painted in an Olive drab colour-scheme with the Team Lionstrike logo emblazoned on the bonnet of the vehicle, along with a General Purpose Machine Gun mounted behind the driving compartment. The Lionstrike partnership has been set up to offer the MOD an option for the mobility solution for the Light Mobility programme as a range of companies seek to see their vehicle be selected. The GSUP is described by GM as a ‘commercial off the shelf solution‘ with a production line that can provide up to 2,000 vehicles per month.

One key feature of the vehicle is its use of the RADS (Rapid Adapt and Deploy System), which allows the S10 for a multitude of roles within the battlespace, such as logistical, medical, or surveillance. Adding of weapon systems can be done in minutes, with modular transfer kits being made available for each vehicle that have been purpose built to withstand extreme climates and various demanding terrain types.

GSUP released more information during DSEI, with a statement on the S10 made by President of GM Defence Steve Dumont:

“Our objective with Team LionStrike is to support the UK Ministry of Defence’s goal of rapidly modernizing its ground vehicle fleet, providing soldiers the best tools to perform their mission, Vehicles like our General Support Utility Platform and our flagship Infantry Squad Vehicle are designed to deliver major advancements inoperational capability and performance, along with unmatched safety and reliability.”

Team Lionstrike also aims to build a reliable supply chain within the UK if the S10 is selected for the Light Mobility Vehicle Programme. Lionstrike is one of a number of new potential offerings for the programme which have been showcased at DSEI.
