GDELS Unveiled NEMESIS 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer at FEINDEF 2025 in Madrid
At the International Defence and Security Exhibition (FEINDEF) 2025 in Madrid, General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), in partnership with KNDS, unveiled the NEMESIS. This new tracked self-propelled howitzer is based on the ASCOD (Austrian-Spanish Cooperation Development) armored vehicle platform, which has been battle-proven, NEMESIS possesses the fully automated 155mm/L52 Artillery Gun Module (AGM) developed by KNDS. This advanced artillery system is the result of over 15 years of development since the original DONAR demonstrator was unveiled and represents a next-generation solution for mobile indirect fire support.
NEMESIS is fitted with the 155mm/L52 AGM (Artillery Gun Module), which has been integrated onto numerous vehicles including Boxer and Piranha IV. Its gun has a range of 54 km for standard rounds and 70 km for extended-range rounds. Its Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI) capability enables several shells to impact at the same time on a target, maximising weight of fire on target and reducing enemy reaction times.

Operated by just two crew members, it includes digital systems for automated loading, targeting, and firing. The interior is ergonomically designed for comfort and efficiency, with the option for a third crew member or even fully unmanned operation based on mission needs. This reduces workload and improves safety in high-risk operations. It is based on the proven ASCOD tracked armored chassis (also used on “Pizarro” AFVs in Spain). It is powered by a 1,100 hp diesel engine and offers the choice of steel tracks for rough terrain or rubber tracks. The chassis allows 360-degree turret rotation and firing in any direction, which allows for quick repositioning and rapid response, ideal for modern “shoot-and-scoot” tactics.
NEMESIS was developed entirely in Europe and offers a modern alternative to older self-propelled artillery like the American M109, still used by some European countries, including Spain. NEMESIS is a next-generation solution created by GDELS and KNDS to help modernize NATO-aligned forces and strengthen Europe’s defense self-reliance. Combining range, automation, and mobility makes NEMESIS a next-generation artillery system built to meet the needs of today’s dynamic combat environments.
