Otokar Unveils TULPAR with HITFACT MkII 120mm Turret

Turkish defense manufacturer Otokar displayed its TULPAR light tracked armored vehicle fitted with the HITFACT MkII 120mm turret by Leonardo during LAAD 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The upgraded configuration transforms TULPAR into a competitive candidate to meet the Brazilian Army’s modernization program requirements. Otokar underlines its international defense strategy through its latest product enhancement which provides strategic capabilities to contemporary military forces. TULPAR platform offers high mobility together with firepower capabilities and enhanced survivability traits so it can operate effectively in current battlefields.

Brazil has expressed intense interest in the TULPAR light tracked armored vehicle because it utilizes the HITFACT MkII 120mm turret which also equips their recently procured Centauro II 8×8 fire support vehicles. The unified system provides operational and logistical benefits which makes it an excellent candidate for the Brazilian Army’s modernization programs.

Brazil’s modernization efforts are seeking to replace its outdated Leopard 1 main battle tanks and M113 armored personnel carriers. General Hertz Pires Do Nascimento made commonality between future platforms the principle focus of his address at the recent 2025 International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) conference in Farnborough. Standardization across multiple vehicles is essential for Army logistics and maintenance operations and training because it simplifies everything within military structures. The main battle tank replacement program scheduled for 2028 contains an IFV subprogram that makes the Otokar TULPAR a good potential fit for this application.

The TULPAR platform demonstrates versatility because it integrates tracking systems to function as both IFV and light/medium tank applications while offering superior mobility across different terrains that include urban areas and jungles and soft ground. The TULPAR’s HITFACT MkII turret utilizes NATO-compatible ammunition from its 120mm L45 smoothbore gun enabling the vehicle to successfully engage armored targets along with fortified positions.

As part of its business practices Otokar promotes technology transfer initiatives and local production agreements which accord with Brazilian defense industry development objectives. Through long-term arrangements in South America the organization hopes to produce defense products that meet specific user demands while advancing defense capability in the area. The combination of TULPAR tracked vehicle equipped with HITFACT MkII turret presents a strategic choice for Brazilian military upgrades.
