Turkish Aerospace Industries Showcases New T925 Utility Helicopter for the First Time at Paris Air Show

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) displayed a wide range of products, including helicopters, aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles, at the Paris Air Show. During the exposition a full-scale model of the T925 multi-purpose utility helicopter, which the company has been working on for some time, was displayed for the first time. TAI’s new helicopter, which piqued the interest of the participants, took its place in the exhibition with its red-white paint scheme and tail number “TC-925.”

The T925 is a utility helicopter being developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), taking into account the needs of the Turkish Naval Forces. The T925 is a utility helicopter being developed to meet the needs of the Turkish Naval Forces. At first glance, this new helicopter stands out due to its larger carrying capacity when compared to the company’s first original product in the utility class, GÖKBEY. As a result, company officials refer to the unnamed product as a “Utility-2” helicopter. GÖKBEY, which made its first flight with a domestic engine in recent months and is scheduled to be delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command, has a take-off weight of 6 tons and a carrying capacity of 12 passengers, whereas the new 11-ton helicopter under development will be able to carry 21 people.

The T925 is being developed using the knowledge, experience, and talent pool gained during the development of the T625 Gökbey utility helicopter and the T929 ATAK-2 Heavy Duty Attack Helicopter. According to TAI General Manager Temel Kotil, the new helicopter will use the same power system as the ATAK-2 (two TV3-117VMA-SBM1V-01T Turboshaft Engines produced by Ukrainian Motor Sich company, gearbox, transmission, rotor blades…) and will utilize many of the same avionic components developed by Aselsan for the T625 GOKBEY. The T925 helicopter’s use of the same infrastructure as Gökbey and ATAK-2 will make the product’s testing and production processes easier.

The General Directorate of Forestry of Turkey will be the first user of the new helicopter, which is scheduled to make its first flight next year. Turkish Aerospace Industries has already secured a contract for the General Directorate of Forestry with the Turkish Defense Industry Agency. TAI will provide 8 T925 helicopters with a water carrying capacity of 4 tons to the General Directorate of Forestry in 2026 as part of the agreement.
